Here at Prescient, we’re excited to share a major step in our sustainability journey. After careful calculation of our 2022 greenhouse gas emissions from business travel and commuting, we partnered with ACT Commodities Group, a leading provider of market-based environmental solutions. With its support, we have successfully arranged to offset our carbon emissions by investing in a wind power project that will generate 44 MW of electricity from previously barren land in Maharashtra, India.

This project harnesses the region’s natural wind resources to generate clean and renewable electricity. By building wind farms, the project will help reduce India’s reliance on non-renewable energy sources, particularly fossil-fuel-fired power plants, thus strengthening the region’s energy security and benefiting the local population’s livelihood and wellbeing.
Located in the Satara, Sangli, Nashik and Ahmednagar districts in the state of Maharashtra, the project will install 55 machines with a capacity of 800 kW each, resulting in a total capacity of 44 MW of bundled wind power. Annually, it’s estimated the wind farm will displace around 69,833 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e), making a significant impact in reducing carbon emissions while also creating employment opportunities, improving local infrastructure and fostering economic growth in the area.

By investing in wind power, we are not only offsetting our emissions but also actively contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The project will strengthen Maharashtra’s energy supply by bridging the gap between supply and demand while ensuring secure access to clean and affordable power in the region.

We are proud to be part of this meaningful initiative and remain committed to minimizing our environmental footprint. This carbon-offsetting endeavor aligns with our ongoing efforts to promote sustainability and demonstrates our dedication to creating a greener future.
