Rob is recognised as having profound expertise in strategic planning and execution, particularly in the oncology drug development field – as he describes it, “Delivering innovative medicines from breakthrough science.” A key theme in Rob’s career has been his involvement in biomarker-led therapies. Over the last 18 years, he has been at the forefront of embedding diagnostics in clinical development programmes and evolving commercial testing to support patient access to novel medicines.
The roll call of medicines Rob has worked on spans the major tumour types and includes Lyparza at AstraZeneca, Erbitux at Merck Serono, and Balversa, Zytiga and Erleada at Janssen. Rob has a track record of innovative thinking and empowering leadership, which have been instrumental in delivering high performance in matrix organisations and across portfolios.
Rob is a scientist by training, gaining an MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Aberystwyth. He complements this with an MBA from EDHEC in Lille. In addition to his passion for developing medicines that will alter the course of disease for each individual patient, Rob values organisational design, team complementarity, and leadership as key to optimising outcomes.
Having been an avid sportsman all his life, Rob regularly undertakes major sporting challenges to support charity fundraising.
